Sedation Dentistry in Austin
At North Austin Dentistry, we realize that for some patients visiting the dentist can be a traumatic experience. In fact, some people are so frightened of dental procedures that they avoid seeing the dentist at all, even for routine exams and cleanings. Not going to the dentist is always a bad idea. Whatever dental issues you have will only get worse if you don’t see your dentist. Fortunately, modern dental technology provides us with remedies to this problem. Sedation dentistry methods allow even the most skittish patient to feel relaxed and at ease in the dentist chair. We are pleased to offer these techniques to our patients from throughout the Austin, TX, area.
Why Sedation Dentistry is So Important
It’s absolutely necessary to visit your dentist on a routine basis to ensure your good oral health, so it only makes sense that anything that helps you do that is a good thing! Sedation dentistry methods allow patients to feel completely at ease and relaxed during their trips to our office. And these sedation options aren’t just for adults – they can help our younger patients as well.
Important Information about Sedation Dentistry
At North Austin Dentistry, we offer two types of sedation dentistry methods for our patients:
- Oral Conscious Sedation – Patients who choose this method will be awake throughout their entire visit to our office, although they may not have clear memories of everything that takes place. Oral conscious sedation allows patients to feel completely relaxed and at ease. People who choose this sedation method will need a ride home after their appointment.
- Nitrous Oxide – There’s a reason that nitrous oxide is called “laughing gas,” since it actually does make patients feel just a little giddy. More importantly, it also relaxes the patient. With nitrous oxide, you’ll be awake throughout your entire appointment, but will feel much more at ease than usual. Another benefit – you can drive yourself home afterward.
